Description
The LS05 reflex light sensor was developed to monitor the acceleration of a rotating body. For this, the visible laser beam of the LS05 is directed at a perforated disc, which is located at a working distance of approx. 31cm. When the perforated disk is rotated, the laser beam is reflected alternately from the perforated disk and the background. The LS05 is able to evaluate these reflections and display them at a short-circuit protected open collector output (PNP).
In order to simplify the retrofit of existing measuring systems, the signal is applied to a second output as an integer fraction (quotient) of the measuring signal. It is thus possible to refine the measurement system for new developments, for example, by increasing the number of holes in the rotating disk, without having to change anything in “old” controllers.
A special feature of the LS05 is that the switching threshold is generated from the course of the intensity of the reflected light. This makes it possible to evaluate the intensity changes correctly even if the working conditions change as a result of contamination of the material to be measured or the LS05 housing. As a rule, in this case, the reflected light quantities (intensities) of the surfaces to be measured are combined so that only a small difference can be made.
The reflection differences can also be generated by any other measured material, for example, color or surface difference of passing measuring objects. As a result, the function range of the LS05 is not restricted to rotating objects.
The LS05 is scouted with 24VDC ± 15%. The laser can be switched on and off by means of a separate “Enable Input”. A red LED is used as a function indicator, which can be used as a mounting aid when aligning the LS05 with a symmetrical signal and a concealed laser beam impinging on the material being measured.
